Reading Support

Aimed at children in pre-K and kindergarten, each book introduces only a few concepts at a time, allowing independent reading from the outset. Two books in each stage provide practice while offering different stories. Each stage introduces new letters/sounds while supporting previously taught phonic letters/sounds and high-frequency words, or sight words.

The VCe Spellings set of books is aimed at children learning the VCe spellings who need to practice reading those words in text. This set of books can be introduced before Dandelion Readers Vowel Spellings Level 3, which also includes the VCe spellings, as one of a number of spelling alternatives.

Vowel Spellings introduces vowel spellings in a gradual way. Each level 1-4 adds more alternative vowel spellings for each vowel sound, allowing the teacher to match the text to the number of alternative spellings they are teaching.

Ten story books each focusing on a different vowel sound. A great resource for children who are not yet fluent readers and need to revisit those tricky vowel digraphs. A higher ratio of text to develop reading fluency and build confidence.

Beginning Readers Sets include Dandelion Launchers Stages 1-7, Dandelion Launcher Stages 8-15, Dandelion Launchers Stages 16-20, Dandelion Readers VCe Spellings, Dandelion Readers Vowel Spellings Levels 1-4, and the Dragon Eggs Series.

The Dandelion World series is parallel to Dandelion Launchers in scope and sequence, and covers a range of engaging nonfiction topics. Each book includes a nonfiction knowledge builder feature for children and adults to read together. This is a fun way to enhance vocabulary and deepen comprehension of the book’s content.

In addition to introducing new letters/sounds, each book supports previously taught phonic patterns and high-frequency words, or sight words.

Three sets of books designed for older children at the very early stages of reading. Contemporary illustrations and a storyline based on the adventures of a group of teenage friends in a band. Set 1 introduces sounds gradually at the CVC level with one line of text on each page. Set 2 introduces adjacent consonants and consonant digraphs while Set 3 introduces two spellings for vowel sounds.

These exciting, age appropriate tales take the students from CVC and CVCC word level text through to adjacent consonants, consonant digraphs and suffixes. This series shares the same phonic progression as the Magic Belt Series and can be used in parallel.

Reading Level 1.8-3.3, Lexile Level 200L-600L, Grade 2-5

When Zak’s grandfather falls ill, Zak must go on a quest to find 10 magical gems to help cure him. This action-packed quest story progresses from CVC and CVCC words to adjacent consonants, consonant digraphs and suffixes.

Reading Level K-2.2, Lexile Level BR-300L, Grade 2-5

Zak’s adventures begin when he’s captured by two men and his shepherd’s staff acquires special powers. Starting at the CVC level, the books progress at a faster pace through adjacent consonants, consonant digraphs and alternative vowel spellings. This series shares the same phonic progression as the Alba Series and can be used in parallel.

Reading Level 1.8-3.3, Lexile Level 200L-600L, Grade 2-5

This series has a feisty, resourceful heroine. Alba steps in to save the day when someone threatens to jeopardize her father’s important scientific work. Starting at the CVC level, the books progress at a faster pace through adjacent consonants, consonant digraphs and alternative vowel spellings. This series shares the same phonic progression as the Totem Series and can be used in parallel.

Talisman 1 shares the same phonic progression as the Rescue and Island Adventure series and can be used in parallel.

Talisman Card Games (sold separately) may be found under Additional Materials. These absorbing games reinforce common consonant digraphs and variant spellings of vowel sounds, and may be used in tandem with the Talisman Series.

With a higher ratio of text to illustration, this series allows the reader to make the important step towards understanding meaning purely from text.
