A primary focus of the educational community is professional development. Winsor Learning recognizes that districts need the help of consultants to broaden the professional development experiences of staff. At Winsor, we understand that professional development promotes high quality intervention skills for student instruction and behavior supports. Strong instructional practice in conjunction with appropriate behavior supports leads to student success!
The SIBS installation model relies on the strong evidence that a successful professional development experience occurs when a link is made between the workshop and actual application in the classroom. Winsor’s installation model emphasizes a “coherent” plan that considers district personnel’s needs for expanded knowledge of interventions; accountability for academic and behavioral progress; and the use of data decision-making criteria. The installation process may be for 1 to 3 days.
A 1 day program trains district personnel to acquire the following skills: (1) observe students more keenly with key functional behaviors in mind; proceed thoughtfully with the conversion of observed behaviors into meaningful data; create a description of the behavior into graphic form; organize a chart that shows the amount of assistance the student requires to perform; develop the basic rudimentary skills to interpret data; and gain knowledge of the narrative summary report. The 3 day training program adds several other professional development opportunities. With the additional day of training district personnel have a chance to review the pre-discovery interview process, examine more closely and deliberately the Case Illustration Decision –Making reference guide, and acquire skills for pattern interpretation. The third day of the training is arranged a short time after the first two to allow district personnel to do observations with the SIBS model, and bring examples of their work to the next session for discussion and feedback. 3 concurrent days of installation………………………………………………………………..$7800.00
