RtI and the Sonday System 1


The Sonday System 1 is an effective intervention for the Response to Intervention (RtI) model and ideally suited for small group instruction. The Sonday System 1 shines is Tier 2 and is highly effective in Tier 3. Sonday System 1 is systematic, explicit, sequential, cumulative and uses multisensory practice to cement learning into long-term memory. The Sonday System 1 is seamless with progress monitoring programs such as AIMSweb, DIBELS, Edcheckup and RtI student success management software systems such as netRtI.

Winsor Learning offers professional development as well as consulting services to aid its clients with utilizing all the tools and staff available at the school or district for successful RtI model implementation. Our consulting services support the Response to Intervention process at the following levels:
- District Level: Our consultants gather information about current programs within the District and then assist administrators with creating and communicating an RTI plan with all stakeholders and setting attainable goals for the school year.
- School Level: Our services focus on implementation, replication and supervision of the RTI plan at the school level. We are involved in coordinating resources and managing logistics for a measurable outcome.
- Teacher Level: Our consultants provide coaching sessions both one-on-one and small group with classroom teachers, tutors and literacy coaches to assist with translating RTI research into practice that can be used in their classroom.
Program effectiveness improves when district leaders and administrators vocally commit to improvement of reading instruction, promote the use of science-based reading research practices, set appropriate goals, and provide the resources necessary to ensure that students make adequate progress.
