Arlene Sonday, Author and Educational Consultant

Arlene Sonday has been teaching struggling readers, including those with dyslexia, for forty years. She is an Adjunct instructor at Fairleigh Dickinson University in New Jersey and at Hamline University in Minnesota, and has taught courses at numerous universities and colleges.

She is listed in Who's Who in American Women in Education. Arlene is a Founding Fellow and first president of the Academy of Orton-Gillingham Practitioners and Educators, on the Advisory Board of the Fairleigh Dickinson Dyslexia Specialist Certificate program, a founding member and board member of Orton-Gillingham Minnesota, past Vice-President of The International Dyslexia Association, past president of the Upper Midwest Branch of the International Dyslexia Association, and past member of the Advisory Council of the Scottish Rite Children's Learning Centers.

Arlene is the author of the Sonday System Product Line (Let's Play Learn, Sonday System 1, and Sonday System 2), and is a reading expert and therapist. Shawn Evenson, Director of Training & Client Management

Shawn Evenson believes nearly all children can read at grade level when given appropriate instruction, necessary remediation interventions, and time to be successful. His practical approach can be applied to the everyday life of an educator.

Shawn is a passionate educational leader with over 10 years of professional experience, including 5 years of demonstration, training and applying research-based best practices in classrooms across the U.S. He's taught thousands of professional educators to use a systematic, multi-sensory language approach (the Sonday System) to teach reading, writing, and spelling. Shawn has presented at the International Dyslexia Association conference and the South Dakota Learning Disabilities Conference, and worked with the Arizona Department of Education's State Improvement Plan.
